Roc-A-Fella Records has inked Noreaga, aka N.O.R.E., and will release a new album by the artist in November. He is third major addition to the label's roster since last fall, following Ol' Dirty Bastard and M.O.P.

The rapper -- one-half of Queens., N.Y.-based duo Capone N' Noreaga -- has previously recorded for Tommy Boy and Def Jam. He also runs his own Thugged Out imprint. His as-yet-untitled new album will be released under the Thugged Out/Roc-A-Fella banner.

N.O.R.E.'s last album, 2002's "God's Favorite" (Def Jam/IDJMG), debuted at No. 3 on both The Billboard 200 and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. It has sold 493,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The artist can currently be heard teamed with GemStar & Big Mato and Nina Sky & Tego Calderon on the track "Oye Mi Canto," which debuted last week at No. 77 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.

Q-Tip: Filmprojekte, Solo Album, ATCQ Reunion...

Zitat:
"I was hearing on the streets that [T.I.] and Luda be having problems with each other, and I know I just did a song with Luda's group about a week or two before," Buck elaborated. "Me and Luda are cool. To be all the way honest, I'd known Luda before I knew T.I., so I couldn't just jump on this record and have them having differences with each other, and then [have Luda] be like, 'Yo, Buck, what's up?' "

Staying diplomatic, Buck talked the situation over with Cris and even played T.I.'s verse for him. Ludacris confirmed that the two had been going back and forth, and he wanted to get on the song and speak his piece.

"I even got at T.I. like, 'Yo, Luda heard this record. He wanna jump on the record,' " Buck explained, "just to make sure all the feelings and everything would stay the same way. And he was like, 'Oh, I'm cool. I'm cool with it.' "

So Ludacris laced "Stomp" with his own battle raps, and the streets have been talking ever since.

T.I. and Cris have apparently now squashed their beef, Buck said, but controversy still surrounds the song. According to Buck, T.I.'s camp requested that Ludacris change his verse before they clear Tip to be on the album. (A T.I. spokesperson had no comment on that.) The G-Unit soldier said Cris has refused.

"Even throughout the song, you don't hear either one talking about killing each other," Buck lamented. "It's just more of a competitive thing. Damn, that's hip-hop. So that's why I don't really understand the whole 'changing your verse' part about the situation, but it is what it is. I ended up having to take T.I.'s verse off of my album. I got G-Unit South Records coming pretty soon; I got an artist I've been working with by the name of D-Tay. So y'all can look forward to D-Tay on 'Stomp Part II.' I think it's the perfect setup. I let him speak on the whole situation."

PURE HEAT!

Das Album soll am 10. August erscheinen...allerdings ist der Titel "Donkey Sean Jr."

When the Queensbridge duo of Havoc and Prodigy briefly traded in murderous, monotonous hooks for a soulful chorus by Atlanta quartet 112 on “Hey Luv (Anything),” Mobb Deep loyalists weren't exactly elated.

That’s because Mobb fans had endeared themselves to the trademark hardcore sound from the New York natives.

But Prodigy explained to AllHipHop.com, the track, from 1999’s Infamy, as well as upcoming collaborations with Nelly (on the St. Lunatic’s album), Nate Dogg and Lil Jon are meant to attract new fans, not alienate their own base.

“We don’t want everything to be like, Uh, these n***as is just stuck on themselves,” Prodigy said. “If you trying to sell records, you got to think about, All right, What do other people like, too? So that’s why we like, Aight, Let’s grab that, let’s grab some of this, let’s grab some other flavors, too, you know what I’m saying?”

Since P and Hav parted ways with Columbia Records after the release of Infamy, they’ve signed a 50/50 joint venture with Jive Records, which will release their new album Amerikaz Nightmare. As a part of the new deal Mobb Deep will split the majority of the profits between Jive and their own Infamous Records. But with the added responsibility of controlling their own destiny, financially at least, Prodigy insists he and his partner-in-rhyme will stick to what they do best.

“We on some hardheaded s**t," he enthusiastically said of the upcoming release. “We don’t give a f*ck about nuttin’ else. Ninety-nine percent of the album is [produced by] Havoc.”

Although the duo released Free Agents: The Murda Mixtape last year, Prodigy adamantly explained that Infamy shoul be considered Mobb Deep’s last album. “We put Free Agents out to let people know that we was free agents,” he clarified. “It’s just a mixtape for the street, that wasn’t an album at all. So the last album we put out was Infamy.”

Some critics contend P reached his highpoint with his solo, H.N.I.C. and Hav arguably stepped up lyrically on Infamy. P may not agree fully to the opinions, but he said his team is superior to others and contended he felt revitalized by his new recording contract.

“N*ggas cannot f**k with us,” he stated, calling Mobb’s new single “Real Gangstaz,” featuring Lil Jon, “fire.” “I definitely got new found energy coming with this new deal that we got and just with everything new for us right now.

“Hell yeah,” Prodigy continued. “You could feel it and you could hear it in our music.”

Amerikaz Nightmare is due is stores August 10th. The album will feature guest appearances by Jadakiss and longtime Mobb Deep affiliates Littles and Noyd, as well as production by Red Spyda and Kanye West. In the meantime, fans can check for Prodigy and Havoc’s latest mixtape, West Coast Mixtape featuring Big Mike.

After playing the back for years, Dip Set's Jim Jones is now ready to establish himself as a solo artist. In this exclusive SOHH.com interview, he speaks on Mase, Nas, the Diplomat's appeal and politics.

Late last week, Jim Jones phoned into New York's Hot 97 radio station to confront Mase, who he accused of lying about a track he recorded with Cam'Ron. While the interview got the whole tri-state talking, Jones downplays the gravity of the situation.

"It's no situation. You know the reverend Mason Betha was on the radio just talking a little reckless," Jones told SOHH.com. "I had to let him know a couple of things. Tell him the facts. I don't let nobody talk sh!t about me."

While Cam'Ron and Juelz Santana are both signed to Diplomats/Roc-A-Fella, Jones' upcoming project is scheduled to drop his release via the independent, Koch Records. According to Jones, the issue was about getting his just due.

"I did pursue a deal with both major labels and Roc-A-Fella. I felt I deserved a certain amount of dollars, with what I've shown about my craft and besides rap," Jones explained. "So it was like, I'm gonna show them and show em I can definitely recoup. I did what I did and just went ahead and did the album myself."

Younger hip-hoppers particularly seem to be captivated with the Dip Set movement. Here, Jim Jones breaks down his crew's appeal.

"You know our youth is so rebellious and all we do shows that rebelliousness. We do what we feel like doing. When young ni99as look at me and they see how hard I'm going and I don't even need to go hard it makes them say, you know what, I fuck with that. The same way I looked at somebody like Pac or Biggie."

Dip Set may draw its share of followers, but they've also been involved in quite a few lyrical brawls. Yet, Jones makes it quite clear that if tension arises, he'd rather skip the disses and deal with it face-to-face.

"Nas is a homo. Bravehearts, these ni99as is homos over there. It ain't no beef," Jones responded upon being questioned on tension with fellow rappers including Nas. "We don't battle we rumble. That's the difference. Battling is wack. Don't say no subliminal sh!t. Say my name ni99a."

Jim Jones regards himself as more of a business man than a rapper. Yet, he intends to use his mic time and eventually expand it into something bigger.

"I ain't a rapper first of all. I'm in it for more that just the money. When you get a bit of money then you're able to get power and with power, we'd probably be able to change the minds of our people and be political, which is one of my goals," Jones revealed.

"I don't know yet," he added regarding his future role in politics," we need more strong black people. They sh!ttin on us. We need strong, aggressive representation. The ones that's there are strong, but we need some more."

Jim Jones' On My Way To Church drops on August 24th.

sample clip of "Good Morning" off of Nas' upcoming Street's Disciple album has hit the internet.

Fans will notice that the song uses the exact same Isley Brothers sample that Tupac and Thug Life used in "Bury Me a G", which leaves the song feeling like a rehash of what Tupac was doing in 1994, and slightly like a mixtape remix rather then an album track. None the less, after a few listens it somehow works.

Nas displays a perhaps overly laid back style on the track, but the lyrics and story telling are on par with Nas' standard over the past few years.

Street's Disciple hits streets September 28th

Rapper k-os has a message for armchair revolutionaries and disenchanted couch potatoes: Get out there and take a stand.

"I've seen Jadakiss. I've seen Faithless," he said. "I've seen all these different bands talk about the problems, but I haven't seen any solutions. We all know there's a problem. What's the solution?"

Though he doesn't profess to hold the answers, the Toronto-bred rapper has chosen his battle: Reviving the spirit of old-school hip-hop while defying the genre's current conventions, and he's using his second album, Joyful Rebellion (slated for a September 21 release), as a soapbox.

"I guess the idea behind revolution or rebellion has always been a tragic one," he said. "So I wanted to associate happiness with being rebellious. I think that's kind of a revolutionary idea in itself."

Unimpressed with hip-hop's current state — and particularly its assembly-line method of recording — k-os' take on the genre is unorthodox, to say the least. Joyful Rebellion combines elements of funk, rock, jazz, folk, blues, reggae and rap, and k-os pushes the envelope even further by flipping between rapping and singing.

Lyrically, he rhymes about rappers' obsessions with money and fame ("EMCEE Murdah"), biased journalists who mess with his mind ("Papercutz"), not believing the hype ("The Love Song") and taking a stand ("Crucial"). And just to keep things current, there's even an ode to Michael Jackson called "The Man I Used to Be."

K-os grew up in Trinidad and Toronto, raised by parents who are Jehovah's Witnesses. In 2002, he released his debut album, Exit, led by the single "Heaven Only Knows." The MC then toured behind the album until the summer of 2003, playing dates with India.Arie and Floetry. Exit was named International Album of the Year at the 2003 Source Awards.

The lyrics of "B-Boy Stance," the first single from Joyful Rebellion, introduce the rapper's mission to bring hip-hop back to its roots, and the track pays appropriate homage, employing a Public Enemy loop and a breakbeat.

"I'm playing a role," k-os rhymes on the song "So people remember that/ I'm just a servant of rap, hoping to bring it back."

"Now that I've been fortunate enough to work with those dudes, and live here, it was just natural to get into the lowriding lifestyle. You can better believe, as soon as I had enough money to buy a lowrider, I had one!"

As if to make up for the slow week, an assortment of big projects hits the streets tomorrow, led by ex-Creed members' new band, Alter Bridge (Wind-Up), which experts are predicting will make a first-week splash of around 250k-300k. Gangland/IDJ's Shyne will have plenty to celebrate behind bars as his debut looks to roll in the 200k range. Jive/ZLG’s Mobb Deep, meanwhile, should see a first week of around 125k, while Capitol’s Houston is expected to log about 100k. TVT’s 213, featuring Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg and Warren G, also has observers looking for a 100k first week, while Mystikal (Jive/ZLG) and Richard Marx (Manhattan) are expected to sell 40k and 20k-30k, respectively, in their first weekly sales cycles.

JAILED rapper Shyne has signed his first artist to Gangland Records — model/actress Devon Aoki. The Benihana heiress has been in the studio recording an album that her rep describes as "a mix between R&B and pop with a little rock 'n' roll. She signed with Gangland because she thinks it's the best label for her, because she knows Shyne for years and thinks he has the vision to make the album a huge success." Aoki got a cool $1 million for her efforts. Shyne is serving 10 years at the Clinton Correctional Facility upstate for the Club New York shootings in 1999.
