Industry News: Warner Music to cut CD Prices


The Associated Press has reported today that Warner Music Group has announced plans to cut CD prices from the current prices for CD's that have been in stores for at least 18 months. The current price is around $18.98 and some 1,776 titles are looking to be sold as low as $13.98 to $9.98. This moves comes after Universal Music Group announced plans to ease up on their previous plans to cut prices from $18.98 to $12.98.

Consequence, einst sechsmal auf dem A Tribe Called Quest-Album "Beats, Rhymes & Life" zu hören, ist das neueste Mitglied der Kanye West-Crew Kon Man. Consequence wird am 22. Juni "Take em to the Cleaners" veröffentlichen, auf dem sich nicht weniger als neun von Kanye West produzierte Tracks finden werden, darunter ein Remake des Souls of Mischiefs-Klassikers "'93 till infinity". Außerdem haben noch Common, Talib Kweli, 9th Wonder und Little Brother bei den Aufnahmen geholfen.

sich als HipHop-Acts in der Liste der "schlechtesten
Songs" ("50 Worst Songs Ever") des Blender Magazines.
Auf dieser Liste, die auch liebevoll die "Hall of
Shame" der Musikszene bezeichnet wird, liegt Ja
Rule mit dem Ashanti Track "Mesmerize" auf Platz
45. Der Grund laut dem Magazin: Der schiefe Gesang
von Ja Rule und die schlechte Hook.
Master P. landete
mit seinem Song "Make Em Say Uhh" (feat. Mystikal,
Silkk, Fiend & Mia X.) auf Platz 36, auch hier war der
Chorus schuld.
Der ehemalige "Fresh Prince" Will
Smith liegt aufgrund seiner simplen Rhymes und des
Missbrauchs des "Rock The Casbah"-Samples mit dem
Song "Will 2k" auf Position 32.
P. Diddy's Tribute-Song
an Notorious B.I.G., "I'll Be Missing You" (feat.
112 und Faith Evans), befindet sich auf Platz 25.

Schließlich liegen zwei umstrittene Rap-Acts in
der Blender-List ganz weit oben: MC Hammer mit "Pumps
and A Bump" auf Platz 17 und Vanilla Ice mit "Ice Ice
Baby" sogar auf Platz 5.

Ras Kass verklagt Priority Records

*Bild*[2] Ras Kass, der noch immer im Gefängnis sitzt,
hat seine Rechtsanwälte damit beauftragt, sein
Label Priority Records zu offiziell zu verklagen.
Er ist der Meinung, dass er unrechtsmäßig an den Vertrag
gebunden sei. Seine genauen Anklagepunkte sind
Lücken im Vertrag, Rechtsverletzung, Verkaufsschädigung
und mutwillige Behinderung der Kontakte zu Geschäftspartnern.
Ras Kass klagt nun 5 Millionen Dollar ein, die er durch
diese Verkaufsschädigung verloren habe. Ras Kass
wörtlich:

>>"Was ich verlange ist äußerst fair! Ich will einfach
nur großartige Musik kreieren, ein professionelles
Team hinter mir haben, damit ich der Künstler sein
kann, der ich bin! Ich bin bereit alles zu tun was nötig
ist, um mich aus dieser hässlichen Situation zu befreien!"<<

Heavy D. has signed a deal with Sean "P. Diddy" Combs' Bad Boy label...

In a ground breaking agreement, Heavy will receive 100 percent of the profits from his Bad Boy release after the label recoups costs for producing the untitled LP. "Puff & I have been friends forever, were family," Heavy D. told AllHipHop.com. "He gave me the most incredible deal." A single from the LP titled "It's Your Birthday," was recently leaked to radio. The LP is slated for a fall release

Bad Boy MC "Mase" is back! Der Rapper hat einen Vertrag
mit Nelly's "Fo' Real Records" abgeschlossen und
wartet nun darauf, dass das Label eine Erlaubnis
von Bad Boy für das Mase-Comeback bekommt. Seine
erste Single ist der Track "Welcome back", in dem
er auch davon rappt, dass sein Rap-Style in seiner
Abwesenheit von vielen gebitet wurde:

rap cats man they all got their style from me/And if
I ever see them man they?ll probably bow to me. These
young boys don?t know what a don mean/I?m just a bad

Anscheinend meint er damit Rapper wie Fabolous

Canibus: Neue Crew mit Chino XL und Thirstin Howl III

*Bild*[2] Rapper Canibus hat eine neue Crew gegründet.
Zusammen mit Chino XL und Thirstin Howl III will der
Battle-Rapper im Herbst diesen Jahres ein neues
Album releasen. Weitere Details sind noch nicht
bekannt. Auf neue Veröffentlichungen und einer
Reunion der 4 Horsemen (Canibus, Killa Priest, Kurupt
und Ras Kass) wird man auch in Zukunft noch etwas länger
warten müssen.
