(mo)

Mr. Taboo No Longer Member Of Young Hoggs

Hey everybody, The Young Hoggs just hit me up with some sad news. One of the groups members, Mr. Taboo, is no longer part of the group. "This decision was made due to an on going problem that time after time has tried to be resolved. There is NO love lost from the remaining members towards Mr. Taboo, there just came the time where our views no longer seen eye 2 eye on the future of the Young Hoggs.", the group said.

The Young Hoggs have released two banging mixtapes throughout the last year with Dre'sta and Six Mil, and are currently working on their album.

The group would like to make clear that there is no tension or falling out with Taboo. "Taboo is our brother, we love him, & wish him much success with his on going career, but this is a business decision that had to be made, in the best interest of The Young Hoggs!"

Brand Nubian's Sadat X Busted On Gun Charge In Harlem
By Nolan Strong
Date: 12/24/2005 9:11 am

Sadat X of Brand Nubian was arrested in Harlem, New York on gun charges Thursday (Dec. 22).

According to police, the incident started when Sadat X, born Derek Murphy, flashed a pistol at a group of teens in Harlem on 158th and Broadway.

Police said the rapper brandished a 40-caliber Beretta handgun and told the group of teens he was looking for a man with braids. He also allegedly threatened to “kill everybody.”

When authorities responded to a call about the incident, the group of teens pointed out Sadat X, who was still on the street with his gun.

Officers said they attempted to arrest the rapper, but the former 6th grade teacher allegedly fled on foot and was quickly apprehended and arrested.

Sadat X was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest.

The rapper is a member of the critically acclaimed group Brand Nubian, which scored several hits over the years including “Wake Up,” “Punks Jump Up To Get Beat Down” and “Don’t Let it Go To Your Head.”

Last month, Sadat X told AllHipHop.com that he was on sabbatical from teaching to focus on music and touring.

His latest album Experience and Education is in stores now.

Stop the presses: DMX has been behaving himself.

The trouble-prone rapper was granted early release from New York's Rikers Island jail after serving a month of what was supposed to be a 70-day sentence for a parole violation.

"He got some time off, two-thirds, for good behavior and also accrued some credit for time spent previously in jail," a spokeswoman for the Queens District Attorney said Friday.

DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was sprung on Dec. 30, according to the D.A.

His attorney had earlier expressed hope that DMX would be released in time to perform a scheduled New Year's Eve concert in South Africa. No word on whether he made the gig; calls to the rapper's lawyer and publicist were not immediately returned Friday.

The 34-year-old Yonkers-born hip-hop star was ordered to jail on Nov. 19 by Criminal Court Judge Dorothy Chin-Brandt. The sentence was handed down a month after he pleaded guilty to violating the terms of his sentence in a 2004 case that involved him plowing his SUV through a security gate at New York's JFK Airport while high on Valium and then telling bystanders he was an undercover federal agent. DMX was initially sentenced to 60 days, but the judge tacked on an extra 10 after the rapper showed up late to court. He blamed his tardiness on an asthma attack.

The driving-impaired DMX was separately busted for driving with a suspended license in the Bronx last April after he accidentally slammed his SUV into a car that in turn rammed a police cruiser. That collision landed DMX a seven-day jail term and $500 fine, but he caught a break and was allowed to do the time concurrently with his other sentence.

Now the rapper looks to resume his idled career. He has reportedly quit his longtime label, Def Jam Records. DMX nixed an offer to join 50 Cent's label, G-Unit, and instead has bolted to Sony Music with the hope that the conglomerate will do a good job softening his image.

We're not sure how much the Sony move will help, but anything that will get him in the studio and off the roads can't hurt.

B.G. Breaks Down His Beef With Lil Wayne and G-Unit

After spending three nights in a Michigan jail, rapper B.G. is out and ready to share his side of the story...

B.G. was recently stopped for driving a car with tinted windows but was held for driving with a suspended license and outstanding traffic tickets. However, according to the rapper, most of the charges were trumped up.

"They was harassing a nigga, that's what happened. They put a gun [charge] on me; they put some weed on me. I had a bulletproof vest on and a half-ounce. So they charged me on possession of body armor and being a convicted felon with a firearm," he tells SOHH.com.

While he maintains that the half ounce of marijuana was not his, he insists that he had no idea that wearing body armor was illegal. "I ain't even know that was against the law. I was wearing them faithfully on stage. I'm from the streets, so fuck I know how it goes. Look at Pac, look at Biggie [and] look at what just happened to Obie Trice," he continues, referring to Trice's recent shooting.

B.G. made a court appearance earlier this week and has another scheduled for Feb. 6. He's certain that he'll walk on the charges because the arresting officers were reportedly "caught in several lies" during the first court appearance.

Hoping to move forward beyond the incident, B.G. excitedly told SOHH.com about his upcoming album, The Heart of the Streets: Vol. 2 (I Am What I Am), which is set to hit stores March 21 on his Chopper City Records imprint. The album features appearances by Paul Wall, Lil' Webbie and the Chopper City Boys.

The album also sees the rapper reunited with his former Cash Money producer, Mannie Fresh, who produced the album's lead single "Move Around." B.G. says that when he left the label several years ago, he never severed ties with Fresh.

"Me and Fresh was always cool. He was supposed to work on my last album, but he was still with Cash Money. He wanted to do this whole album at first. I might let him do the next one. But we still hooked up on this one and he gave me a hit so I can't complain."

Fans shouldn't look for a reunion between B.G. and his former Hot Boys partner, Lil' Wayne, however. As previously reported, Wayne is targeted by B.G. on his diss track, "Triggaman," which incidentally uses the beat from Wayne's hit single, "Fireman."

B.G. says that the beef kicked off after Wayne made some derogatory comments towards his former Hot Boys clique in a print interview.

"We was cool up until that. He never said my name, but he said it towards all the people that left Cash Money and the Hot Boys. I left Cash Money and the Hot Boys, so I took it as he was talking about me."

Though he has some pretty harsh words for Wayne on the track, B.G. says rap fans need not worry about the beef spilling over from wax and into the streets. "I don't want to harm that man. I watched him grow up. I brought him to Cash Money. I just wanted to put him in his place."

His feud with Wayne and his recent arrest aren't the only reasons B.G.'s name has been in the news recently. Rumors have also been swirling about the rapper possibly joining 50 Cent's G-Unit roster.

Not quite ready to reveal his decision, he offers up, "I've been climbing up the stairs for the last two years and now I feel like I'm on the porch and I've got like five doors open. G-Unit is one of those doors that's open to me."

Until he reaches his decision, B.G. says he's just going to focus on promoting his new album, his label, Chopper City Records and the Chopper City Boys, his first artist on the label.

2 Live Crew Co-Founder Mr. Mixx Working On LP At The Bunny Ranch

After being on the road with Afroman as his DJ and guest performer, Mr. Mixx, co-founder of the 2 Live Crew has settled down at the famed Bunny Ranch in Carson City, Nevada to start work on his solo album, VGNL MINDED.

The album will be released on Mixx's label, Mr. Mixx Recordings and will be distributed by Afroman’s Hungry Hustler Records/Redeye Distribution.

VGNL Minded is Mr. Mixx’s first solo album in three years, since his 2002 release, Nasty, Controversial and Unauthorized.

“What Lil' Jon and Ying Yang are doing now is what we created back then,” Mixx told AllHipHop.com about the speeded-up, boisterous, heavy-bottomed Miami bass sound that brought 2 Live Crew to national prominence.

2 Live Crew, the group Mixx founded with Fresh Kid Ice and Amazing V in the spring of 1985, became one of Hip-Hop's most controversial groups.

Luke Campbell joined the 2 Live Crew shortly after its inception and the group released the groundbreaking albums 2 Live Is What We Are (1986), Move Somethin' (1988) and As Nasty as They Wanna Be (1989).

The latter album spawned the classic single “Me So Horny” and was the subject of national attention, when the group was arrested under Florida obscenity laws for performing songs from the raunchy album.

The battle over the explicit lyrics on As Nasty as They Wanna Be went all the way to the Supreme Court in 1994, which ruled in favor of the group, citing First Amendment rights.

“Basically, I’m taking the same musical approach,” Mixx said of the new album. “They [Lil’ Jon, Ying Yang and others] may feel like I’m going behind them, but they went behind me in the first place.

VGNL Minded will be filled with explicit, unedited party songs.

“People want to hear the unedited versions first,” Mixx said. “They want to hear what they’re playing in the street and in the clubs. And that’s where my stuff starts. Otherwise, it’s not the same.”

The 2-disc set will also include behind-the-scenes footage of Mr. Mixx at the Bunny Ranch and bonus videos from Hungry Hustler Records.

VGNL Minded hits stores March 28, 2006.

On Green's website www.tomgreen.com, he details a recent run-in with Geto Boys rapper Bushwick Bill while shooting a video at a Fat Burger restaurant in Las Vegas.

The site includes a clip of Green and Bill sitting together in Green's ride previewing some songs from his recently released album.

While listening, an astonished Bushwick Bill is seen talking on the phone with Cali rapper Spice 1 and the two applaud Green for his work and express interest in working with the comedian/rapper.

"This s**t is slammin' dog, I can't wait to get on a track," Bill said. "Spice 1, Bushwick Bill and Tom Green; tell me that wouldn't be some outrageous shit."

It's not officially known whether the two record a track, but as Green states on his site, he's definitely up for it.

"Thanks for the kind words Bushwick," Green wrote in his blog. "You and Spice 1 gotta lay down some s**t with me an EZ Mike."

Green's album features production from DJ EZ-Mike (who produced for the Beasties Boys) and Mike Simpson of the Dust Brothers.

The comedian has previously stated his love for Hip-Hop and was also a founding member of the Canadian group Organized Rhyme.

Beanie Sigel won't be going back behind bars anytime soon, despite his gangsta ways...

The rapper, a protégé of Jay-Z, was convicted of assault Tuesday in a Philadelphia court. He was sentenced to two years' probation and $180 in court costs for fistfight outside a Chinese restaurant in 2003.

The victim claimed Sigel, whose real name is Dwight Grant, punched him in the face, breaking his left eye socket. Sigel worked out a deal to get the charge reduced to simple assault by agreeing to the prosecutor's version of events.

This conviction was the latest in a string of legal woes.

In November, Sigel did an hour stint in jail for flaking on child support payments to two women. He was released after writing a check for the $26,000 owed, plus another $2,000 in fines.

But he apparently didn't learn his lesson there because he had to make a second court appearance Tuesday for being behind in those payments again, owing his five-year-old son's mother $900. He was found in contempt and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine.

His lawyer, Fortunato N. Perri Jr., told the Associated Press that his client hopes to put his legal woes behind him and "make music, make movies and work on his clothing line."

Things could have been worse for the hip-hop star. Sigel dodged a bullet in September when he was acquitted of nearly shooting to death a man outside a Philadelphia strip club two years ago.

That trial came just weeks after Sigel was released from prison after spending a year behind bars for federal drug and gun charges stemming from a 2002 traffic stop where officers found a loaded gun and a stash of drugs, including marijuana and OxyContin.

Sigel's third album, The B. Coming, was released last March while he was in prison, as was his film State Property 2.

DMX's career came full circle today, when Columbia Records/Sony Urban Music announced that Dark Man X had returned to the company that gave him his first record contract in 1992...

With his Ruff Ryders crew--motorcycles, pitbulls, and all--by his side, DMX announced at a press conference today (Jan. 13), that he was happy to be back at "a record label that feels more like a home."

"I feel like Sony appreciates good music and talented artists," he said.

Lisa Ellis, President of Sony Urban Music, announced that she was extremely excited to have the multi-platinum selling artist back at the company that launched his career.

In 1992, DMX released his first 12" single, "Born Loser." But it wasn't until his guest appearance on LL Cool J's 1997 hit "4,3,2,1" that DMX captured the nations attention. Since then, X has released five albums, and become one of Hip-Hop's top selling artists of all time.

According to DMX, his goal for this next chapter in his career is simply to, "let life be my song." "I don't make music to make songs, I make music to record my life," he added

Accompanying the Yonkers, NY native at the press conference were Ruff Ryders CEO Joaquin "Waah" Dean and producer Swizz Beatz, who will be collaborating with DMX on his upcoming Columbia Records/Sony Urban Music album.

The album, titled Here We Go Again, is scheduled to be released some time in the spring.

2006 seems to agree with X more than 2005. Last year, the rapper was caught up in a host of legal drama--and even ended up serving brief sentence on Riker's Island.
