"Okay" Guerilla Black Is Back With New Album

Emerging to the mainstream in 2004 was Chicago born, Compton raised Guerilla Black. His album "Guerilla City" received a mixed response due to many listener's problem with him sounding like the late Notorious BIG however none could dispute the then Virgin Records signee's choice of production and guests on the album.

With credits that included Red Spyda, Mario Winans, Jazze Pha, Rodney Jenkins, Rick Rock and Fred Wreck and appearances from Nate Dogg, Mario Winans, Beenie Man and Brooke Valentine the album did ensure attention however in the two and a half years since its release Guerilla Black has remained relatively silent, save last years "400 Shotz The Funeral" track that, im similar style to The Games iconic "300 Bars," took aim towards an array people he had issues with.

Since then Guerilla Black has been hard at work on his latest album, said to be titled, "God Bless The Child" and with this in mind has recently released his first track from the project "Okay" which features Hot Dollar, an artist currently riding a wave of success with his hit single "2 Step." We have the new record below where he talks about the hatred he has received and announces his reemergence - those who love name dropping and gonna dig this track.

Guerilla Black - Okay (Feat. Hot Dollar)

Enjoy the new music and stay tuned for the latest on Guerilla Black and his upcoming album right here on dubcnn - in fact we can also reveal he recently shot a video to another track from the album that you can expect to see and hear soon.

NAPPY ROOTS to release "THE HUMDINGER" Summer 2007

Their sincere southern conscious approach has, for over a decade, stabilized them as one of the South's most consistently successful and respected rap groups...

After years of spreading southern hip-hop around the globe, working with directors Joel and Ethan Coen and executive music producer T-Bone Barnette for the film soundtrack "The Ladykillers", lacing their music on multi-media gaming ventures like the mega popular MADDEN NFL, receiving major American music industry award accolades, topping the American music charts with singles from their platinum and gold albums Watermelon, Chicken and Gritz ("Country Boyz", "Awnaw", "Headz Up", "Po' Folks" Wooden Leather ) and ( "Roun' the Globe", "Sick & Tired"), these Kentucky-based country fellas still manage to maintain the creative formula that has been paying off for years; One-part honest music mixed with Two-parts down south swagger. The end result: classic music.

The Nappy Roots have come a long way from their humble beginnings in Kentucky but 'Ain't Nuthin' Changed'! They continue to convey three things sorely lacking in rap nowadays: sincerity, passion and consistency. Summer of 2007, welcomes their highly-anticipated album "The Humdinger" and is set to be yet another Nappy Roots classi! c. Not to mention they are bringing 'the heat' with ferocious beats from some of the industry's top producers!

As the title suggests, The Humdinger, is indeed, 'The Mother of All Mothers' and represents global hip-hop at its best. Remaining true to their roots, the album remains loyal to fans by incorporating Watermelon, Chicken and Gritz hit-producer, James "Groove" Chambers, with additional production by David Banner, Sol Messiah, Mr. DJ, Rick Rock, Big Block, The Sol Kingz, in-house producer Joe Hop, an! d three new talented super producers out of Cashville, TN, Track Kingz.

With over sixty minutes of non-stop hip-hop, the album successfully manages to peg each member's unique personality, harmonious flows and timeless hooks and qualifies them as inventive socially and politically conscious musicians with southern packaging. They are the ying and the yang: complementary opposites. The album takes you across vast Southern realities with songs like "My Sidekick" which blends pulsating bass lines and recognizable ringtones; then moves listeners to "Boulevard Beads and Braids" that paints realistic snapshots of southern life in war times; but true southern hip-hop wouldn't flow right without straight fun, good music and party tracks like "Don't Stop" and "Rewind".

To the streets' anticipation, "The Humdinger" is blazing and this Summer '07 release can't come soon enough! Partner in rhyme Skinny DeVille promises that the record will be "some of the most honest music you can find."

Terrace Martin Signs With Warner Brothers Records

Warner Bros. Records have just announced the signing of a new label and production deal with Terrace Martin, the Los Angeles rapper and producer who has worked with Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent and Talib Kweli amongst others.

Under the terms of the deal, Warner Bros. Records will market, promote, and distribute artists that Terrace Martin signs to his company Jakai Music Group. Martin will also produce current Warner Bros. Records artists, including the upcoming Blacksmith/WBR release from Talib Kweli, as well as put out his own music, including his debut album, which he is currently working on.

Terrace Martin is a throwback to a pure form of musician - he believes in crafting real music and conceptual songs from scratch. Tick, A&R Director for WBR explained; "When Craig Aaronson, Naim Ali and I banded together to sign Terrace Martin, we all knew we had the total package of artist, producer and entrepreneur."

Currently Martin is best known for his production work on albums by Snoop Dogg, such as Snoop's recent gold-certified, soon to be platinum album "Tha Blue Carpet Treatment," and other artists in Tha Dogg Pound.

Terrace Martin, who is also a jazz saxophonist who has played with Stevie Wonder and Herbie Hancock, describes his style as; "Sounds that would happen if [hip-hop artist/producer] Hi-Tek was to have lunch with the Beatles, then go play with Michael Jackson's monkeys, then go kick it with Miles Davis. It's fun, feel-good music!"

Mannie Fresh Squashes Beef With Lil Wayne, Signs New Deal With Jay-Z
Mannie Fresh recently called a New Orleans radio station, Q93, to discuss his new projects for 2007. In the interview, Fresh revealed he’s signed a new deal with Jay-Z and Def Jam Records. “I just did a deal with Jay-Z,” he said. “Dude reached out to me. He flew me up, we talked about it and they wrote something nice. It was a nice little proposal.” Fresh continued to say, “What made me take the deal is, they didn’t want me to only do this exclusive deal with them. They were like, “You can go do whatever it is you do.” So my thing [at Def Jam] is to overlook the southern artists they have, as well as sign [new] artists...”

Fresh also disclosed a conversation he had with Lil Wayne a month ago. “We had some words. I asked him if he had a problem with me, because in all honesty, I never had a problem with him,” Fresh said. “So I stepped to him like a man, like, ‘Dude, the problem is not with you, so don’t take sides that don’t got nothing to do with you. I got a problem with another man, it has nothing to do with you.’” Fresh went on to say, “[But] he [Lil Wayne] said, at the time, he was trippin’ and he took sides. But he reached out for his new album, so hopefully we gonna put something together and do business.”

In addition, Mannie says he’s going to produce on T.I.’s next album and is planning to get in the studio with Nas in the next two weeks. He’s also producing most of Juvenile’s next album. “I did the whole Juve album,” he said. “I executive produced the whole album and I did about 13 tracks on it. It’s that Juve y’all wanted.”
