The Bodega All-Stars are a collective of emcees that initially came together in order to provide the soundtrack and score to the forth coming animated film entitled “The Adventures of Captain Coqui and the Sockless Plantain” a stylish comicesque tale about Latino super heroes in the south Bronx circa 1986 created by core group members Rio and TRI 139. The group consists of TRI 139, Oktober Zero (The Zero EP., Less then Zero cd, Zero@ the half mixtape, projekt: BUILDING LP, 2for5 “Broke Minds Think Alike” and a slew of other vinyl releases) Vas Deference and Rio (son of Latin percussion legend, the late Frank Malabe)

“The Adventures of Captain Coqui and the Sockless Plantain” soundtrack was the initial project that brought these mad scientists together, and the group has since evolved into a tight knit family of artists who pride themselves on coming up with unique and often comical music filled with well woven word play satirical concepts and of course a level of imagery that makes the listener feel as much like a viewer as someone watching fritz the cat.

The First Musical release which is scheduled to come out on Mindbenda recordings some time in 2005 entitled “Campfire Stories” is a testament to their ability to tell a story, as that is what the whole album is, with plots ranging from a murder mystery, to a moralistic tale of urban life, to zany excursions of some of the characters featured in Captain Coqui and the Sockless Plantain. Also be on the look out for the up coming music video for “Murder by Numbers”.

Wusste nicht das Oktober da mitmischt, auf jeden Fall interessant, hat schon was drauf, auch wenn er mich jetzt bei seinen Releases nie richtig mitreißen konnte

Die Auftritte der Bodega Allstars auf der The Boot fand ich allerdings nicht besonders, liegt aber auch daran dass mir die gesamte Mix Cd bis auf 2,3 Ausnahmen nicht gefallen hat.
