NYOIL to release "9 Wonders (the Digital EP)"

Hip Hop Artist and Activist NYOIL is set to release a new Digital EP titled "9 Wonders (NYOIL verses 9th Wonder)" February 20th 2008.

The release will be available for FREE DOWNLOAD at partnering websites and Blogs for the duration of the release. "I'm constantly trying to develop new strategies to market music and developing significant business partnerships with new media. This is a wonderful opportunity to recognize Blogger as the future of Hip Hop press. A good blog is usually written by someone that would do it, has done it because they have a legitimate love for the culture." Said NYOIL.

The project titled with the tagline (NYOIL verses 9th Wonder) contradicts rumored reports that the project was a diss to the group Little Brother and or the Grammy award winning Producer 9th Wonder. It is in fact a compilation of 9 songs to 9 previously released 9th Wonder Beats. Unlike mix CD's where the artist generally does his version of a pre-released song, NYOIL opted to give each track new life. "I felt like if I redid the songs it would be disrespectful to the people that originally rocked to them. Fact is I just treated each beat as if it had never been rhymed to. I wanted to show my mastery of this style of hip hop, my ability to still build solid ideas, a conscious message, and show the timeless quality of 9th Wonders production" This project has a decidedly mellower feel to his previous release "HoodTREASON the warm up album" but the lyrical content is no less poignant and honest.

Bald kommt ja sogar der Re-Release von der Scheibe (ich glaube über Babygrande), obwohl es ja eigentlich nur ein Pre-Album sein soll... :bonk:

Ich bin ehrlich gesagt nicht so begeistert von der Scheibe als Gesamtwerk. Der Track "Ya'll shall all get lynched" ist zwar Pflicht und einfach klasse, aber der Rest ist für mich einfach zu standardmäßiger EC-Rap wie es Ihn gerade im Moment zuhauf gibt. Einfach viel zu viele Tracks, er hätte aus dem Ding eine schöne EP zimmern sollen mit 6 bis 8 Tracks, dann wäre es okay gewesen...

Habe mir das Album vor zwei Wochen auch mal bestellt, ist aber leider noch nicht da. Soweit ich weiß ist NYOIL auch mit Traum von Masta Mix Records verbunden ( www.mastamix.com ). Weiß aber auch nicht ob das wieder nur so eine Art Vorab-Album ist, dafür spricht der Titel, aber ansonsten wird die Scheibe eigentlich als vollwertiges Album beworben. Gibt es denn eigentlich keine Feature-Auftritte auf dem Album?

Nein, keine Features. Also, da Traum ja immerhin der Gründer von MastaMix ist, liegt es ja nahe, dass die miteinander zu tun haben. Oder in wie fern meinst du "verbunden"?

Wundert mich irgendwie, dass über den so wenig Worte verloren werden. Scheint ja rein inhaltlich mal ganz locker in der Tradition von Paris, Immortal Technique und ähnlichen Leuten zu stehen, oder? Hat das jetzt mal eigentlich jemand gehört außer Local C-Lab? Finde das Cover ziemlich gut und würd's mir auch gleich holen wenn's einigermaßen was taugt. Was sagt ihr so, in welche Richtung geht's?

"Yall should all get lynched" ist mit Abstand der beste Track, und dann war doch noch "What up my wigga wigga" drauf, der is auch stark

yall should all get lynched nervt übertrieben irgendwie mit dem 100mal wiederholten chorus.. und dann kommen auch noch teile von der hook in seinen texten immer wieder vor wohl auch der grund dafür dass er in NYC so hartes airplay bekommen hat. ansonsten eigentlich gutes lied

Das steht ja anscheinend noch nicht fest. Hoffe mal nicht, sondern Unreleased Tracks usw. Dann würd ich mir das Album vielleicht auch endlich mal zulegen...
