Ghostface: New LP Mitte Dezember / weitere Def Jam News

Queens, New York rapper and reggaeton artist Noreaga has signed a deal with Jay-Z's Roc-La-Familia to release a reggaeton album, while preparing to release a separate Hip-Hop album under the Def Jam imprint.

"I am really excited," Nore told AllHipHop.com. "I am about to put out two different genres of music under the label, so this is real big. I think I am the first artist to have two completely separate deals by the same company, so I can actually put out two very different albums at the same time and there not be any problems."

Nore a La Familia will feature guest appearances by Daddy Yankee, Zion & Lennox, Hector Bombino and other Latin artists and Nore insists that his Roc La Familia debut will be strictly Reggaeton.

"I am both Black and Latino, so this is important to me to embrace both sides and that is why I am releasing two different albums." Nore continued. "I really feel like this is my chance to pay homage to my Latin side and I know my father is looking down on me from Heaven smiling, because I am doing it right."

On the flip side, Nore is preparing his highly anticipated solo album on Def Jam, One Fan a Day. The album has already spawned the leaked single "I'm a G,” featuring Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes, which has fans buzzing.

The album will feature guest appearances by Mariah Carey and the late Big Pun, as well as a track produced by Swizz Beatz.

"I don't want people to forget about my Hip-Hop album," Nore said. “From now on I am doing two of everything, [laughs]. Two tours for the two albums. It is going to be interesting to see which crowd my concerts bring in. But regardless of which crowd or whether it's mixed, I am happy, although my DJ may be confused, because he won't know which records to play [laughs]."

Aside from releasing two opposing albums virtually at the same time, Nore is also planning several feature film appearances including “Treasure of the Seven Mummies,” “MVP” and the independent film “I Wish I Had a House Like This.”

"I am really doing my thing as far as branching into acting,” Nore told AllHipHop.com. “My roles are some what small like in the movie ‘Treasure of the Seven Mummies.’ All I am going to say is I play the classic black man role. I love it all [because] I am getting my foot in the door."

The films are scheduled for a 2006. Nore a La Familia is scheduled for release in March 2006 and One Fan At a Time is scheduled for release in January 2006.

In his illustrious career, Busta Rhymes clearly established to Hip-Hop not only that he was here to stay, but also a distinguishable force to be reckoned with. After enduring professional growth and personal pain, it was Busta’s stand out performance on his verse of the A Tribe Called Quest hit “Scenario” that helped him to establish a name for himself as not only an animated but an ill MC.

The crews, the labels, it’s all changed in the last fifteen years. No prophet could’ve connected Leaders of the New School with N.W.A. in 1991. But now with Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Records, Busta Rhymes speaks to AllHipHop.com on the journey. We look at the botched J Records deal, the politics of Aftermath, Busta’s weaknesses and strengths, and even a word on LONS. Great art comes full circle.

All HipHop.com: What really happened at J Records, because the partnership between you and Clive [Davis] seemed great when Genesis hit, it also seemed like a great move for the team especially with what was going on with Flipmode and the solo joint with Rah Digga?

Busta Rhymes: You know everything is always beautiful in the beginning. So when we first did our deal with J Records, they weren’t even officially announced [as a label yet] and to me it made sense to jump on something fresh; especially with a man who had a record like [Clive Davis]. The problem with J Records for me was that they don’t have a clue on how to market a Black record, because Urban Music is the politically correct way of saying Black Music. People will look at it like Alicia Keys is a Black woman, so she is Urban Music, but you can’t group Rap music the same way. Rap music is about going against policies and is so hard to contain that it is impossible to market the same way as you would an Alicia Keys’ record. It was a time where if you didn’t have a Puffy or Missy or Mariah Carey on your album J Records didn’t know what to do with it and that is why I think they are a trash record company.

AllHipHop.com: So is there any beef between you and Clive Davis?

Busta Rhymes: My feelings on the way my deal went down and the views I have about J Records have nothing to do with the way I respect Clive Davis’ legacy, but I do feel that the Rap department is a part of the company that he doesn’t give a f**k about. I feel that it’s evident by the way he runs the label. Look at when the American Idol muthaf**kas won, he was right there giving them million dollar deals and putting all this money into making sure they were marketed right and that they are promoted to be a success. Now look at Cassidy, yeah they were there [for him] in the beginning, but when he got locked up they gave him one video and the rest of his album was thrown in the trash. They cut his budget and really just messed him up, but if you look at Lil’ Kim [who’s on Atlantic], I don’t mean to compare situations that are unfortunate but Lil’ Kim is on her way to jail and you can see the distinct difference that Lyor Cohen and them did versus that of Clive Davis.

AllHipHop.com: There are two things that you said in previous interviews that I agree with, one is that the reason you continue to switch labels is because the labels aren’t understanding your vision, but you also said something in a totally separate interview that Hip-Hop is the only music that has created jobs for people who don’t understand it. Do you feel that the lack of understanding is what causes street records not to be as heavily promoted as a mainstream record and that’s what leading to the over saturation?

Busta Rhymes: Completely, I definitely feel that and I feel that a lot of that has changed because of the corporate mergers and the layoffs that have taken place in the industry. I think that there has definitely always been a lack of respect and a lack of understanding by the employees that worked at the labels because they looked at this like a job, like a straight up nine to five. On the other hand with me, switching labels has always been something that was needed in my situation in order to maintain a certain level of success because I feel like the longer you stay at a company the less fresh and the less exciting you become to a company and that’s the nature of any relationship. Just like if you with your girl, the longer you are with her the less exciting the relationship become and it’s unfortunate but that’s just how we [as people] are, we have short attention spans.

AllHipHop.com: Do you feel that it will turn that way with Aftermath?

Busta Rhymes: I feel that destiny for me has worked itself out, because I have never dreamed of being on a label that is so understanding of the music that I have always been trying to make, but have never been able to make like Aftermath. Because to me if you can win a Grammy and perform on the Grammys with someone like Elton John on a record like “Stan” that talks about killing your wife because you are an over obsessed deranged muthaf**ka, that is so far from a Top 40 record or even a club banger, that it’s created a new level of success that goes against the normal establishment. Working with Dre has given me the freedom to express feelings and things that I was never able to express because the labels always wanted a high energy, bafoonish, animated Busta Rhymes that I really don’t have a problem with doing because it’s a part of who I am. When I have a problem with it, is when I am unable to express other parts of myself and other sides that I consist of. It ain’t always the cartoon and exaggerated facial expressions that Busta Rhymes is about, I have so many other dimensions that I consist of and I am glad that honestly the label that I am apart of allows me to explore and express those sides thoroughly through my music. I hope people are bracing because I am going to finally get a chance to tell stories that I have been holding on to since ‘95 that I haven’t been able to share, because the previous companies I was a part of didn’t know how to nourish or nurture those types of records, concepts or ideas. That’s why I feel blessed that despite how I was hindered in other situations, muthaf**kas tend to identify with the true capabilities that you represent and the quality of your music.

AllHipHop.com:: Why do you think It Ain’t Safe No More was so unsuccessful, is it because you were unhappy with the situation at J Records or did you just feel like oh well?

Busta Rhymes: I am going to break it down for you a lil’ bit. When I was at Elektra, all of my albums were platinum, when I was leaving Elektra the Anarchy album was the least successful. When I went to J Records, my first album sold 1.8 million, when I was leaving J Records, the biggest radio record I have had in my career, that Mariah record was bigger than “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See” bigger than any other single I have had, but ironically the record sold the least amount of records. Why, because when a label knows that you are leaving, they are not going to put as much money into your project when they know they ain’t getting that money back. So that’s really what that’s about and I am glad you asked that question because a lot of time people hold it against you, like you slipping creatively; but it ain’t got s**t to do with my creative ability. If you look at around the time this album was falling off, I was the hottest muthaf**ka out.

Young Jeezy Exits Boyz N Da Hood, Lil’ Wayne Joins!

Lil’ Wayne has signed on to become an official member of Boyz N Da Hood (BNHD) and Young Jeezy has exited the ranks, according to sources...

Lil Wayne, President of Cash Money Records will join the Atlanta-based super-group along with existing members Big Duke, Big Gee, Jody Breeze, a representative for Universal Record confirmed. Initially, T.I. was included in the group as well, but his representatives at Atlantic Records denied. “That’s false. He’s not going to be in Boyz N Da Hood,” a rep in the Atlantic publicity department said.

Blok, founder of Boyz N Da Hood and Blok Entertainment, also confirmed the news of Lil’ Wayne’s inclusion, but countered stating that T.I. was in the group. Despite persistent rumors, Blok said there is no bad blood between Young Jeezy and the rest of the group.

“Jeezy only signed on for one album and that’s my whole campaign – it’s not a replacement it’s a continuance. We’re not beefing. All of us are brothers. That’s very important, it’s a continuance. This is the way it was set out to be when it first started,” Blok told AllHipHop.com. Blok also stated that the original roster of Boyz N Da Hood included T.I., Trick Daddy and Sean Paul of the YoungBloodz and the newer members replaced them. Young Jeezy has experienced solo success with his platinum-selling Def Jam release Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation.

Representatives at Def Jam for Jeezy were unaware of the Boyz N Da Hood personnel change, but Jeezy commented on his status with the group in a previous interview.

“I was a solo artist first. I'm definitely a boss. I always had a label. I always had a movement. The whole thing with Puff [Bad Boy Records], we sat down and worked it out. I already had my solo situation at Def Jam,” he told AllHipHop.com. “My album was set up to come out first, before I did the little situation [with Bad Boy]. But just me being a gangster and real about what I'm doing agreed to push my album back so I could get the Boyz N Da Hood project rolling. I just want the fans to know it ain’t me acting funny or nothing like that. It's just that I got a solo album out, so just like how I went on a Boyz N Da Hood promo run, I gotta do mine. Everything I do with them, I gotta do for myself.”

While Jeezy was a member of BNHD, he was also signed to Def Jam as a solo artist and had to promote both the group album and the Def Jam opus at the same time. Jeezy frequently missed promotion and marketing tours with Boyz N Da Hood, but continued to push both projects. The BNDH self-titled album hit stores on June 21, while Thug Motivation 101 was released on July 26.

Ironically, T.I., Young Jeezy and Lil’ Wayne will embark on a tour of the United States with in mid-November.

Remy Ma, the First Lady of the Terror Squad, is dropping her debut album, There's Something About Remy: Based On A True Story (SRC/Universal), this December...

As the sole female member of Terror Squad, Remy has made numerous guest appearances with artists like Eminem, Lil' Jon, Mase, Big L, D-Block, and R. Kelly, among others. However, she is probably best known for her verse on the M.O.P.'s "Ante Up" remix and more recently the TS summer anthem, "Lean Back".

Fans can look forward to seeing more than just the street side of Remy with her new release. Due December 6, There's Something About Remy features songs like the Alchemist-produced "Thug Luv," which includes an unreleased Big Pun verse that tells of a bond between a Puerto Rican boy and a Black girl from the Bronx, and "Feel So Good," where Remy is joined by Def Jam's R&B newcomer Ne-Yo and reveals a more sensitive side.

"It's hard for me to get real gushy gushy on record," Remy says. "But it's a nice love song, like on some 'I love you, but I'm not sweating you and I won't stab your car tires.' It's nice."

The album also includes production contributions from Cool & Dre, and Swizz Beatz, who produced the lead single "Whuteva."

In related news, Remy was among the performers at David Banner's Heal the Hood concerts. dead prez's M1, Talib Kweli, Memphis Bleek, Q-Tip, The Beatnuts, Smif-N-Wessun, The X-Ecutioners and others were also in attendance, raising money to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Remy Ma's There's Something About Remy: Based On A True Story (SRC/Universal) is due in stores on December 6.

2 men were shot at Bang 'Em & Domination's album release party over the weekend
According to The New York Post, two people were injured early Sunday morning when shots were fired outside of Mo's BBQ on Archer Avenue in the Jamaica section of Queens, NY. Both victims, one of whom was shot in the head, were driven to Jamaica Hospital and are expected to live...

"I heard multiple shots in rapid succession," Mo's BBQ owner Michael Jamison told The Post. "This was about 3 a.m. All the patrons ducked. They ran toward the rear of the club."

Partygoers said Domination came into the restaurant with an entourage about 15 minutes before the shots were fired outside.

"It's a very unfortunate incident," Domination said in a statement. "I was inside the event at the time of the shooting. My friend was hit three times. But I know he's going to pull through because he's a survivor."

Witnesses said Domination left the restaurant before police arrived at the scene five to 10 minutes after the shooting.

Despite their on-going beef with 50 Cent, there is no firm connection between the superstar rapper and the Sunday morning shooting.

No arrests have been made at press time.

Napoleon, member of Tupac's original Outlawz, has announced to StreetHop.com that he is officially retiring from the rap game...

He had been recently working on a solo album produced by Johnny J (How Do U Want It) after leaving The Outlawz group due to a difference of opinion in the direction the group had been heading since the tragic death of their leader, Tupac.

Unfortunately for fans, Napoleon has now decided to totally leave the rap game behind, a decision no doubt fueled by his recent embrace of Islam and strong dedication to his faith.

In preparation to begin working on the follow-up to his multi-platinum album The Documentary, rapper The Game recently constructed and opened a new recording studio complex in Atlantic City as headquarters for Black Wall Street East.

Black Wall Street's main offices are headquartered in Los Angeles and the rapper is also making plans for other Black Wall Street facilities in other major markets across the country.

Game (born Jayceon Taylor) centered his recording studio in Atlantic City, New Jersey after collaborating with Black Wall Street in-house producer, Nu Jerzey Devil aka Anthony Torres.

"Rap is just a branch on my tree of life," Game told AllHipHop.com. "I am funding these complexes with my own money. It's very reminiscent in concept to what the original Black Wall Street was all about - doing for yourself."

According to Ron Wallace, co-author of "Black Wall Street: A Lost Dream Chronicles," the original "Black Wall Street" was in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The street was in one of the most affluent, segregated African-American neighborhoods in the United States and flourished from the early 1900's until 1921.

According to "Black Wall Street," the city was destroyed by race riots brought on by angry white Ku Klux Klan members, who allegedly destroyed the town on June 1, 1921.

Game's Black Wall Street East, which is set in the heart of Atlantic City, is a fully customized state of the art recording studio, which is serving as the backdrop for the Game’s next album titled The Doctors Advocate.

Game, who as Jayceon Taylor was a member of the Los Angeles gang the Bloods, founded The Black Wall Street as an organization and corporation that is interested in the primary social development and economic advancement of the Hip-Hop community.

The Atlantic City location is still under construction and features a studio, two master suites, offices, rooms for in-house living, a recreational room with pool tables and a classroom, where mentoring programs for pregnant mothers and children will be established.

The rapper said he hopes to create almost 100 jobs when the facility is completed. Other facilities will eventually open in New York, Atlanta, Miami, Detroit, Chicago.

While no release date was available for his album, the rapper confirmed he was "knee deep" into production on the follow-up to his blockbuster debut, The Documentary.

"It's the same format at The Documentary. If it aint broke don't fix it," Game stated. "I am still with Dre and I'm working with some of the best producers."

The rapper/CEO has already recorded and finished tracks with heavyweight producers like Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Just Blaze and Cool & Dre.

Game said The Doctors Advocate would not suffer without the appearance of 50 Cent and his former G-Unit group members, with whom a violent feud erupted just before 50 Cent released his chart-topping album, The Massacre.

"First off, he didn't write s**t," Game clarified. "If you listen to The Massacre and The Documentary, it's obvious. He didn't write anything. We would be in the studio bouncing ideas off of each other creatively, because it's all about creative empowerment. I did that for his album too and didn't ask for anything or take any credit. Now 50 is trying to sign all the street dudes and turn them against me."

The rapper also announced that he is seeking new talent to sign to his Black Wall Street imprint.

Interested artists can visit Theblackwallstreet.com or Theblackwallstreeteast.com.

The rapper also stated his sneaker with 310 Motoring, "Hurricanes by 310," will hit stores on Dec. 26

The Doctors Advocate does not have a release date at press time.
