Interview by TX211 for Kuwait, from the Cotulla Prison Unit 02-20-2004.
1.) How do yall stay in unity when breaking bread and fighting for position in such a large family of rappers?
Well I’ll give you a two part answer for your two part question…
Here’s an example, if Braindead and I did a song, standard music procedure for publishing is both of us are entitled to 100% far as the song in general it depends on whose song is it. Did I come to BrainDead or vice versa? If we’re friends, in which I hope we are as well as brothers, there would be no charge. Anyone outside the click gotta pay like they weigh, but back to the example if the song is a success, we both come out good due to publishing. Far as the selling of the song, we share profits if BrainDead wants to use it for his cd, then cool & vice versa with me. If a label wants to use it in any form we share that profit 50/50, fighting for position is really every man for him self. Example, if I wanted to do a show featuring the brothers my position automatically is boss and I must se the title through in every possible profitable & comfortable way.
2.) How do you remain patient when waiting for your time be recognized in the underground as well as nationwide?
It’s not easy but you have to rely on your higher power and never lose your faith, it’s like the ultimate code you should never break. Never give up on yourself, it’s like drowning or sinking in quicksand. Nothing is impossible if you believe in God you can swim in quicksand, if you believe you can…
3.) Are there any frustrations you deal with in this rap game?
Not as of now because I have the knowledge of the Business. If you don’t have the knowledge only then will you have frustrations.
4.) What are some of your favorite SPC tracks?
“Fuck You” from “Ganksta Nip” Rap-A-Lot release “Psychic Thoughts” but man it’s so many it’s pathetic all of them are my Favorite.
5.) How do you plan to help SPC reach their goals of being on top and gaining nationwide recognition and wealth?
By any means necessary, if it means picking fights with “Nick Cannon” Nickelodeon Mickey Mouse club success ass, that’ll be sure to hit tabloids and magazines everywhere, or wearing South Park cartoon characters on my shirts when I take photos or walking on stage in the middle of an Award show yelling SPC.COM!! What they done do, sue me or escort me off the premises? That’s all they can do, or modeling like Pac did or become an extra in movies whatever, man, whatever!
6.) What are your plans for your rap career when you get off of lock?
Well you’ve read some of them in Questions 5 but I’m hitting New York like Scarface did. New York is where it’s at there mix tape underground market is the key. New York is to all rappers as Mecca is to the Muslims, so I’ll be making that hajj (pilgrimage to holy land).
7.) What are some pros and cons of being a underground rapper in the rap game?
The Pros and Cons. The pros are the love you get from the music, some of the money, Interviews such as this one, this sense of just finally being able to be heard.
The cons are the haters, the endless studio sessions never sometimes seeing the day light, the suckers’ promises never coming through, stuff like that.
8.) Do people ever doubt you or say stuff like who are you?
I run into people all the time that don’t know me. I deal with that like this “Hi, my name is Kuwait”. Now from that point on they know my name and how I look, then I introduce my music, establishing a relationship is what I am doing. And from that moment, I’ve gained a listener, for life, possibly a fan or a devout friend. So I look at being unknown and famous as everyone is a potential friend or fan.
9.) How do you stay confident in yourself and not get discouraged in a difficult game almost impossible to win in when people are closed minded at time knowing you got some of the best kept talent out there?
Even though I grew up in an environment that’s very malevolent and there are places around such as the N.O.I. (Nation Of Islam) that uplift you and being the grandson of slaves or grandchild a lot of us have very low self esteem subliminally, implanted in our brains due to slavery. By the N.O.I. unlocking my brain, showing me my bloodline lineage, which consists of Abraham, all the prophets pass the Great Pharaohs to God Himself, I discovered…I AM A GOD.
Pslams 82:1-8, Gen 1:26-27, John 10:22-39, Gen 3:22, Surah 8:17, Surah 2:30, Revl 1:12-17, Job 30:30.
This is where my confidence comes from “Knowledge of Self”, knowing myself, as far as people being closed minded, and not recognizing my talent. Everything comes in time, even the sun has a time it shines on our faces.
10.) Do you feel its hard to stay on the level with other SPC OG vets like K-Rino,Point Blank and Klondike KaT?
I just do me. I’ve found myself; now all I can do is me. That’s the code.
11.) What are your views on the OGs as well as the other SPC members?
I love the OG’s they paved the way, put it on the map. Dammit, now us other members need to step up and keep the legacy going. I got crazy ambition, ask K-Rino. Hell I’ve given up everything for my music. Hell I was a fugitive for 4 years, homeless on K-Rino couch and in 5 different states recording. I got a wife and two children I haven’t been with in 4 years, but when I am out there I want to see Braindead, Texas Tech, Rhyme Felony, the BG’s in the Killa Klan, the BG’s in the Psych Ward, and all of them out there on the grind like me. Icy Hott, Nip and DBX can vouch for me. Rain, sleet, snow, sleeping in the stair case for this shit man!! I am trying to keep my name alive from the penitentiary, writing Murder Dog as well as interviews or creating interviews for myself, getting my girl to email my banner to thousands of people every month on the net while I am in this bitch. Honestly, I don’t see the fire in the BG’s. Fuck that though, it’s real rappers with real money in real mansions riding real big cars and feeding their families, living on tax free land in mansions overseas. Like the Wu-Tang clan, hell look at MTV cribs, look at the GOD RZA’s house. It can only happen as a unit, when we don’t have a major backing us, we need a pyramid operation on them corners. Far as selling our cds go, but I guess the BG’s don’t have the deam no more, but shit this is all I got man, this is all I wan. I’m the slave master, fuck the slave. SPC 4 LIFE SUCKERZ!!!
12.) Which members you think are some of the coldest?
