Dubcnn caught up with the West Coast War Lord himself, Ice Cube, to discuss his new album "Raw Footage", which dropped online and instores on August 19th. Ice Cube tells us about his highlights on the record, the single "Do Ya Thang" and why this album means so much to him.

Vielleicht bestes Album, das am 19. August rauskam...

Also, zum aktuellen Cube ist ja hier schon genug und eindeutiges geschrieben worden. Ich persönlich kann dem neuen Album auch herzlich wenig abgewinnen. Sorry, aber die Beats wirken irgendwie am Fließband produziert und sind wenig abwechslungsreich. Das ist ein einziger Haufen...ähm...IRGENDWAS.

Dagegen ist das Cold187um-Album eine Oase inner Wüste.

Betrachtet man dieses Album als eine Art Indikator dafür wie es um den Westcoast-Rap bestimmt ist, könnte man nur eins sagen: WESTCOAST-RAP IS DEAD. Dieses Album glänzt nahezu durch uninspirierte Produktionen. Schon bei Track 1 stelle ich mir die Frage: Was zur Hölle hat ein Downsouth-Track auf einem klassischen Westcoast-Album zu suchen???? Wenn ich mir ein Ice Cube-Album und grundsätzlich ein Westcoast-Album zulege erwarte ich 100 %-puren Westcoast. Stattdessen spiegelt dieses Album das wieder, was sich vor allem seit "Lough Now, Cry Later" andeutete... nämlich den unaufhaltsamen Abwärtstrend Ice Cube's.

Eins will ich allerdings nochmals klar machen: das Album ist im Vergleich diverse anderer (Krampf)Alben, die ich in diesem Jahr gehört habe, nicht schlecht. Allerdings für die Maßstäbe, die ich an Ice Cube setzte, absolut indiskutabel. 5/10 Punkten.

Ice Cube Down To Work With Scarface & Nas?

West Coast legend Ice Cube is open to the idea of a group album with Nas & Scarface. A fabled album that has often been talked of as a "King Of Each Coast" album by fans could well be on the cards after Ice Cube recently spoke to AllHipHop.

Ice Cube is quoted as saying "[I} wouldn’t even think twice about doing that...hell yeah!" Cube, obviously enthusiastic about the prospects of working with the other two legends, continued; "I think the album would be crazy, lyrics would be sick, and Hip-Hop would love it.

It’s just making that business happen, that’s the part that gets funky. I ain’t never turned down these kind of projects, they just don’t happen for whatever reasons. But I’m up for some sh-t like this because I know we can make a dope record."

West Coast rap veteran Ice Cube has revealed his intent to work with former N.W.A. labelmate Dr. Dre on his upcoming I Am The West album and said he has already chosen a lead single.

According to Cube, the album's first official cut is called "I Rep That West."

"It's a f*ckin' banger," Cube wrote in a blog posting. "This one might be too West Coast for the West Coast. It's getting mastered as we speak. You'll be able to hear it and buy it first right here on icecube.com. We shoot the video on the 17th. I would give you guys the concept but I'mma save that and let you see it for yourself. Now I know it seems like my record is West Coast crazy...yeah it is. But I got a lot of real shit to say on this record just like I always do. So my political fans won't be disappointed. But sometime the Big Dog gotta piss on a few trees to let these puppies know what it is. They can't f*ck wit me lyrically or physically. They all talks sh*t from a distance cause they know, I may do comedies but I ain't no joke...Now, I wanna answer a few questions you have for ya' boy... Beats by Dre? Not yet. ice cube war mein held in der grundschule, "amerikkka#s most wanted" war das erste rapalbum dass ich original besaß, direkt darauf folgte "the predator".
als koreanischstämmiger nehm ich ihm aber "black korea" übel.
