Bay Area hiphop veteran E-40 will be featured on L.A. hiphop artist Third Degree’s upcoming single, “Do My Thang.” The highly anticipated track is slated to appear on Third Degree’s upcoming debut album, “The Pedestrian,” which had originally been scheduled for release late last year until legal negotiations held the album up. The disc will hit retail outlets on August 2. Third Degree (Wayne Gillory) walks it like he talks it on this hook-laden, jeep ready album. Third, who hails from South Central Los Angeles, grew up living right around the corner from Dub C of Westside Connection. Says Third, “I went to Hiphop High. Washington High School was where I came up. A lot of hiphop artists went there, like Dub C, Crazy Tunes from The Maad Circle, YoYo, DJ Alladin, and Sir Jinx, who DJ’s for Xzibit, and more. Crenshaw High may have had all the sports people locked up, but Washington has had the music people.”...

Third’s album is jam packed with 21 serious tracks, including the single “Do My Thang,” featuring E-40. “I like real writers who have subjects and topics,” Third proclaims. “I’m a purist kind of guy.”
While the intersection pictured on the album’s cover is the corner of L.A.’s Imperial and Western, Third’s songs reflect hiphop sensibilities emanating on corners in areas all over the country, so his rhymes hit home with those who are both near and far. Wherever you are when you listen to this album, you’re still at the intersection of hiphop beats and masterful rhymes, as the Pedestrian makes his way through your speakers.

The long awaited album is slated for release on Blak Ice Records.

Ermordeter Rap-Star Notorious B.I.G.: Von korruptem Polizisten erschossen?

Lord Jamar Of Brand Nubian Flies Solo

Rapper Lord Jamar, the acclaimed lyricist from Brand Nubian, intends to educate listeners with 5 Percent Album, his first solo album, which he says will be in stores by the year’s end.

"[Fans] can expect a lot," Lord Jamar told AllHipHop.com of The 5 Percent Album. " It deals a lot with the 5 Percent Nation and really exposing it more than anybody has ever done before to bring about a clear understanding. I'm taking away some of the myths."

In Hip-Hop's earlier days, one could hear the overt influence of the 5 Percent Nation of Gods and Earths. Such rappers as Nas, Busta Rhymes, Rakim, Wu-Tang Clan and others have frequently used the unique vernacular and terminology of the 5 Percent Nation in their rap songs.

The beliefs of the group heavily influenced the lyrics of each Brand Nubian's album. The 5 Percent Nation of Gods and Earths stems from their belief that 10 percent of the world keeps the other 85 percent ignorant, while the last 5 percent are the righteous people of the world.

The group also believes the black man in the original man, thus "god," while black women, the mothers of civilization, are symbolically referred to as "earths."

The group has consistently been scrutinized, being labeled a gang at different times.

"This [album] will clear the confusion and that's my job – the absence of all confusion," Lord Jamar stated.

In addition to his Brand Nubian brethren, Jamal said he is lining up appearances by the rappers who were influenced by the 5 Percenters for his album.

"I got my man Shabazz the Disciple [Gravediggaz] on there," Jamar said. "I talked to Wise Intelligent from the Poor Righteous Teachers. I'm trying to get Rakim on there. The features will be mostly from the 5 Percent Nation."

In addition to his career as a rapper, Jamar had a long-term role as "Supreme Allah" – a name with 5 Percent origins – on HBO's popular prison drama, "Oz."

C-Bo Out Of Jail, Talks New Album, Label

Rapper C-Bo will be released from prison today (June 22), after serving almost two years for gun charges and other offenses.

According to C-Bo, he is going to work on his untitled album, the 17th from the rapper.

"With this album, I am really trying to re-capture what the West Coast is known for," C-Bo told AllHipHop.com. "Right now we see a lot of people doing their thing, so I know it's the right time for me to step in and give fans what they have been waiting for."

His label, West Coast Mafia, has already signed two acts, Killa Tay and former No Limit soldier Young Bleed, who will drop Rise Thru Da Ranks' on August 23.

“We have a lot going on over here," C-Bo said. "I linked up with [Young] Bleed, because I respect what he does. I was wanting to work with him when he was on No Limit and we were in the process of working on a project before I was incarcerated, so it was only natural that we would link up to do our thing."

The climate of rap has somewhat changed since the rapper was incarcerated. During his two year stay in prison, two of his associates, Mac Dre and Anthony “Fat Tone” Watkins have been gunned down.

The rapper, who was jailed in 1998 for violating his probation because his album Til My Casket Drops, allegedly promoted gang culture and called for violence against police officers, said that he planned to speak his mind again.

"I still feel to this day that I was a target, but they didn't stop my paper and they won't,” the rapper said. “Am I going to purposely go out and do things to draw unnecessary attention to myself? No. But I am not going to stop being me or saying what I say just because they want to investigate things that I have done in the past.”

Amid the unsettling times in Hip-Hop, C-Bo is actually calling for a unified front amongst rappers.

“We definitely need to unify and give to younger, hungry emcees coming out,” C-Bo explained. “I hear about all the beefs and I feel that for California to really get our just dues we have to come together and work together, not just sign treaties."

Three Six Mafia member Project Pat will be released from prison on July 28, after being sentenced to four years for weapons offenses.

The Memphis, Tennessee rapper was sent to prison in June of 2002, after being convicted on two counts of firearm possession as a felon.

In January of 2001, Pat was pulled over for speeding when police found 2 revolvers under the seat of his SUV.

According to group member DJ Paul, Pat has spent his time behind bars wisely, penning songs and even authoring a book.

“He [Pat] wrote over 200 songs, all in jail,” DJ Paul told AllHipHop.com. “He’s got a new single coming and his brand new album will come out in late January, called Crook by the Book.”

After he is released from the Missouri prison where he is incarcerated, the rapper will spend another five months in a halfway house.

Pat was also assigned three years of supervised release following his confinement and a $75,000 fine.

“We are just going to go to the studio when he comes out,” DJ Paul said. “We are gonna party in the studio.”

In related news, the group has already started plans for the third installment of their popular straight-to-DVD movie, Choices.

The most recent edition, Choices 2: The Setup hit stores in March.

Jayo Felony has been released from jail and is now back to working out all the last minute details on his new album. I ran into him last night out in Hollywood at a New Talent Showcase, and he informed me that he's looking to have it released by August...

However, there are new developments that he spoke to us about in which we should know more details later this week which involve Hip Hop & Fashion Mogul Russell Simmons.

I also want to say whats up to Bay Loc who I also hooked up with this weekend. We are going to work together to bring more shine to San Diego talent.

Rapper Dres and producer/DJ Mr. Lawnge are returning to the Hip-Hop scene with a new album, 8WM.

According to Dres, re-entering the game is just another chance at furthering the Black Sheep legacy and continuing their success.

In 1991, Black Sheep released their seminal debut "A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing," which reached #30 on the Billboard charts and ended up selling over a million records.

The album spawned two massive singles, “The Choice is Yours” and “Flavor of the Month.”

"Our record plays in a party everyday of the year...a lot of artists can't say that," Dres said of his previous hits. "If we were to get paid for every time our album was played, we would be millionaires."

Guests on the album include Showbiz, Lord Finesse, Kwame, Dinky Bingham, Vitmain D, Bean One and others.

To commemorate their entrance back into the Hip-Hop scene, the duo will appear at the Knitting Factory on July 5th as a part of the Discipline Series.

Joining Black Sheep on stage will be Medina Green, Tom Chase, Dirty Nichols and others.

Tickets for the Discipline Series event are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Doors open at 10pm.

Black Sheep will also be hitting the road with De La Soul beginning July 18.

To listen to new tracks you can visit www.blacksheeponline.com.
