JAY MAFIA BIOGRAPHY
Jay Mafia was born Jayson Howard Moore on April 23, 1983 in Dallas, Texas.
His father passed away at the age of four leaving his mother to raise him and his older brother as a single mom. After deciding she didn't want to raise her sons in South Dallas Lago Park, Jay Mafia's mother moved to North Dallas in search of a better life. At the age of 11 years old Jay Mafia's mother purchased a home in East Garland, a suburb of northeast Dallas. Jay Mafia begin gang banging under the direction of a well known East Garland gang member Tyshon Hillary. His mother was outraged upon learning about his gang affiliation and removed him from her home immediately. Homeless and hopeless, he dropped out of school at the age of 16 and was forced to move back to South Dallas where he met a local Drug Dealer and his street mentor Keno "Kane" Blanton . Kane agreed to allow Jay Mafia to live at his home in exchange for selling crack cocaine in Southeast Dallas neighborhoods. After unsuccessfully selling crack cocaine, Jay Mafia created an armed robbery ring with members from LPG (Lago Park Gangstahs) and a childhood friend nicknamed "Al Green" from Dixon Circle in South Dallas. After being investigated by the Dallas, Garland, and Mesquite Police Departments the ring was eventually caught and Jay Mafia was sentenced to 10 years in the Texas Department of Corrections for 1st Degree Aggravated Robbery. After serving 2 years of his 10 year prison sentence his attorney was able to file motions to have the charges reduced from 1st degree aggravated robbery to 2nd Degree robbery and bargained a deal with the courts to allow early release. (Al Green is currently serving a 10 year prison sentence for an unrelated robbery).
Upon Release from prison Jay Mafia immediately begin writing music about his life and creating songs in a story style format painting a picture of what he has been through in his lifetime. In March of 2006 his longtime friend Kane was killed and only fueled his determination to make a better life for himself.
In 2005 he released his first professional recording "Guerrilla Kingdom Mix tape Volume 1." hosted by Dallas DJ Drop.
In 2006 he followed up with the release of his debut Underground album "This Game" under his own independent label Outbreak Records. Short of funding, the project never made it to music store Shelves and Jay Mafia became frustrated with the lack of support from local DJ's and Radio Stations for hometown artist subsequently causing him to put music behind for three years.
In 2009 Lil Boosie was contacted and told about Jay Mafia through a mutual acquaintance. Shortly afterwards Lil Boosie boarded a plane and flew to Dallas to meet and record the hit single "AYYYE" giving Jay Mafia notoriety in the music industry. Immediately afterwards Jay Mafia released his new Mix tape Guerrilla Kingdom Volume 2. "The City Is Mines" and plans to release his national debut Album "Millimeter Mafia" In late 2010.
