Babygrande Records is pleased to announce it has signed a deal with Liquid Swords Entertainment for the next release from
Wu-Tang's GZA/Genius.
Tentatively entitled, GZA Presents, this release will be the official GZA/Genius Mixtape and is scheduled for release later this year.

Additional film and music projects are also being discussed.

Two weeks after resigning his post as chief operating officer of The Source magazine, publisher Jeremy Miller has announced the launch of DOWN magazine, a new publication focusing on the southern Hip-Hop scene.

"I chose that name because essentially, it's a magazine entirely dedicated to southern hip hop and down south [music], that's pretty much where it came from," Miller told AllHipHop.com. "I want to focus on the music that's being played in the south, the music that's being performed by southern artists, or if you’re new and upcoming artist, music that I think could be played down south in the clubs or the radio, that might be more of a southern style."

Miller plans to have the new title on the newsstands on July 26 in 16 states across North America. The magazine will regularly highlight up-and-coming artists from southern regions and emphasizes that no other publication puts such a spotlight on southern hip-hop talent.

"I am somewhat biased when it comes to music I like," Miller said. "I like southern hip-hop music. I like the crunk type music. I am going to be open to every form of music coming out of the south, but I am going to have a focus on that grimy, country get crunk style of Hip-Hop. I am not trying to reinvent the wheel. The Source and XXL both have wonderful formats. I'm taking almost the same format and plugging in the niche style of music within Hip-Hop."

Each issue of the magazine, which will be initially published bi-monthly, includes a compilation CD featuring tracks from unsigned hip-hop artists from the South.

"I have investors in the magazine, because it takes a lot of money to ensure you are going to be around for that third fourth or fifth issue," Miller said. "I told people I wouldn't put out the first issue until I could tell them when the second third and fourth issue were coming out."

As former COO of The Source for three years, Miller was involved in the hip-hop magazine’s publishing division, securing book deals and overseeing foreign licensing agreements among other things.

The Oklahoma native started as an intern at the magazine in 1991 while attending New York University’s Stern School of Business.

"After I moved into the circulation department, I helped grow the magazine from 50,000 copies to 800,000 copies," Miller stated. "My primary focus early on was expanding the magazine and getting the magazine to the streets and the stores.

"I am hoping I have that catch 22 of having to print more copies than I am planning on by the second or third issue. That will be a nice problem to have."

Much has been made of C-Murder’s (Corey Miller) suggestive name, but the rapper has adjusted the moniker after being convicted in the shooting death of a 16 year old. He will now be called C. Miller, based on his real name.

While he’s proclaimed his innocence, he said that the general public has never known the true meaning behind his rap handle. "I am not a murderer," he said in a statement.

"From the beginning, I have been a target because of who I am, my stage name and for my success as an entertainer and the success of my siblings. People hear the name C-Murder and they don't realize that the name simply means that I have seen many murders in my native Calliope projects neighborhood,” said the rapper.

A retrial of Miller’s murder case was recently overturned and he now faces a mandatory life sentence. He and his lawyer, Ron Rakosky, are in the process of appealing the decision according to the Associated Press.

Additionally, the NAACP is plotting a federal lawsuit for Miller, because they say his lack of a retrial violates his civil and constitutional rights.

"Corey Miller is entitled to a new trial. The fact of the matter is Corey Miller was tried, found guilty and sentenced based on the testimony of witnesses who admittedly perjured themselves," Miller's attorney, Ron Rokosky said. "There is no physical evidence in this case. We requested a new trial. A judge reviewed the case finding countless legal errors and in the interest of justice she ordered a new trial ultimately overturning his conviction. Even though this judge acted properly, the Appellate Court is still denying Miller a new trial, which has never been done before in the history of Louisiana law and is a clear violation of Miller's civil and constitutional rights."

Millers lawyers and the NAACP will announce what step to take next, while Miller once again denied the murder charges.

"I formally change my stage name to C Miller, the first initial of my name and my legal last name, in hopes that I can finally receive justice," Miller said. "I am not asking for any special treatment or favors, I just want what is due to me... a fair and impartial trial."

M.O.P.: Neues Studioalbum im Juni über KOCH!

Es gibt wieder Hoffnung, dass M.O.P. doch noch neues Studio Material irgendwie veröffentlichen werden! Nachdem es mit Roc-a-fella ganz offensichtlich überhaupt nicht geklappt hat, werden Billy und Lil Fame nun aller Voraussicht nach im Juni ein bislang unbetiteltes Album über Koch Records veröffentlichen!

Darauf enthalten sein wird brandneues Material sowie ältere Tracks, die eigentlich für den Roc-a-fella Release geplant waren.

Erste Gerüchte um die erste Maxi Auskopplung gibt es auch schon: 9th Wonder soll das Ding nämlich produzieren! Vorsichtig ausgedrückt: Gewagte Kollaboration!

Aber wir lassen uns gerne vom Gegenteil überzeugen...
