Nochwas an Infos zu der Truppe:
Zitat:
Consisting of RMR & Chaz Rich, and accompanied by the production team of Rohan Robotham and Skeff Anslem, Nu Sounds' first showed up on Jazzy Jay's misleadingly titled Cold Chillin' In The Studio Live (Jay had nothing to do with Cold Chillin' and the record was far from live and Jazzy Jay didn't have a whole lot to do with most of the tracks, as far as I can tell!), which also hosted the earliest appearances of up and coming producers turned rappers Tony D and Diamond D (who contributes "I'm Not Playing", along with Master Rob, collectively Ultimate Force. This cut, has popped up on the random rap radar, as I probably need not mention).
Anyway, they later released an LP, entitled Mackin' on Uni, which had a lot of duds, but also had "Condition Red", another banger called "Do That Rock" and inexplicable cameos from Bambatta and the Ohio Players. The record, obviously, didn't catch on, but at least they got to rock nice purple suits. RMR and Rohan Robotham went on to form Strickly Roots, a semi-acclaimed indie group best known for "Beg No Friends" (and yes, I just found that out on google). Skeff Anslem would go on to moderate fame as a behind the scener in the early 90s bohemian hop/native tongues movement, engineering and producing random album cuts for the likes of Brand Nubian and De La Soul, but is probably best known for getting "props, too" on Low End Theory, from which one can probably infer that he had a hand in ghost/co-production on that classic also.
