Andre 3000 Preps Clothing Line And Solo Album

Fans of Outkast may see more of Andre "3000" Benjamin if he follows through with his plans to release a solo album and new fashion line this fall. While doing promotional work for Semi-Pro, a sports-themed comedy that finds Andre teaming up with funnyman Will Ferrell, the rapper/actor discussed his Benjamin Bixby line and his as-yet untitled solo album with New York Magazine [available HERE].
"[Benjamin Bixby] is a character who's kind of like your uncle, or your granddad," says Andre. "And he has a closet full of experiences and clothes, and he's been around the world." Unlike Outkast Clothing, the Benjamin Bixby line is expected to be carried in upscale retailers, such as Barney's. Andre also says he's been visiting Italian factories and Parisian textile fairs, while taking style advice from Vogue editor and noted fashionista Anna Wintour.
Although he's been keeping busy with fashion and acting, Andre 3000 also expressed hopes of releasing an album this fall in a recent interview with Vibe.
"[Production will be handled by] Organized Noize, myself, and whoever got some heat. You know, I've been producing since ATLiens," adds Andre. "Even with music, I never say, 'Well, we [Outkast] got to put out a record every year.' I just want to express any way I can, whether it's film, music, or fashion."

Andre 3000 to Release Solo Album

Outkast rapper Andre 3000 is heading into the studio to record his debut solo album.

The Hey Ya! singer has focused his efforts on his movie career over the past couple of years - with star turns in such films as Be Cool, Four Brothers and Revolver.

But Andre 3000 is eager to get back into music - as soon as his promotional duties for new Will Ferrell-starring comedy Semi-Pro come to an end...

He tells MTV.com, "After I finish promoting Semi-Pro, I'm going to the studio and kind of staying in there for a while. I'll bang out something!"

OutKast released their last album Speakerboxx/The Love Below in 2003. The double disc featured solo albums from both Big Boi and Andre 3000, but was released under the OutKast banner.

Andre 3000's solo LP is expected to hit music store shelves later this year.

Big Boi Goes To The 'Extreme' On Solo Debut

OutKast's Big Boi is putting the finishing touches on his first solo album, "Sir Luscious Left Foot ... Son of Chico Dusty," due later this year via Laface/Zomba. The first single is "Royal Flush" featuring OutKast colleague Andre 3000 and Wu-Tang Clan's Raekwon.

"I'm shooting to finish the album by the end of August," Big Boi tells Billboard.com.

The MC worked with his usual Organized Noise production crew as well as long-time collaborator Mr. DJ on "Sir Luscious," the second single from which will be "The World is Too Big" featuring Mary J. Blige...

"This album is Big Boi to the extreme," the rapper says. "It's like a recession special. I'm talking about what's going on in the world, with everything from rising gas prices to the election. It's just my insights on life up to this point."

Longtime OutKast video director Bryan Barber will helm a clip for "Royal Flush" in the coming weeks. And while Raekwon will be featured in the video, Big Boi was unsure whether Andre 3000's schedule would allow him to appear as well.

Last month, Big Boi debuted his "Big" collaboration with the Atlanta Ballet at the city's Fox Theater. Now, the MC is in talks with concert promotion giants AEG and Live Nation to take the show on an international tour.

Big Boi's "Sir Luscious Left Foot" Coming In August

Atlanta rapper Big Boi has beenout of the spotlight and off the charts for quiet some time now. That, however, is about to change as he gears up to deliver his first soloalbum, "Sir Luscious Left Foot...Son Of Chico Dusty."
The LP, which is set to hit stores this coming August, is being produced mostly by Organized Noize, who handles a vast amount of Outkast's material including the entire Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik LP and "So Fresh, So Clean" from Stankonia.

"I'm shooting to finish the album by the end of August," Big Boi tells Billboard.com.

"This album is Big Boi to the extreme," he continues. "It'slike a recession special. I'm talking about what's going on in theworld, with everything from rising gas prices to the election. It'sjust my insights on life up to this point."

Mary J. Blige, Andre3000, T.I., & Raekwon have all been confirmed to be appearing on the album.

The first single, "Royal Flush" featuring Andre 3000 and Wu-Tang Clan's Raekwon has already hit the airwaves with a video in the works directed by Bryan Barber.

The second official single will be "The World is Too Big" featuring Mary J. Blige.

During the Ozone Awards/TJs DJs Conference weekend, Big Boi invited press and others to an exclusive listening session for his upcoming Sir Lucious Left Foot album. Sponsored by Ciroc and Crunk Juice, the listening session took place at a suite in the Hilton Americas in Houston TX. As attendees filled the room, Big Boi made his way through the crowd to host the festivities.
Once some sound issues were handled, Big Boi introduced the album and played it in full (but in random order) for the jam packed room. Showing southern unity, Core DJs founder Tony Neal, Greg Street, Bun B and Big Boi’s former rival Killer Mike entered the room and exchanged pleasantries. Most noted was Killer Mike as some were curious whether or not the peace between the two was manufactured. That notion was put to rest as the two smiled and were clearly happy to be friends again.
The album will feature production from Organized Noise and Jay Beats as well a healthy helping of guests. George Clinton and Too Short join Big Boi on “For Your Sorrows,” Raekwon and Andre 3000 appear on “Royal Flush” and Mary J Blige pops in for the lead single “Something’s Gotta Give.” The song that floored those in attendance was “Tambourine” which features T.I. and Big Boi trading rhymes over a bass heavy production. Other songs include “Back Up Plan,” “Sir Lucious Left Foot Saves The Day,” “Terrified,” “Daddy Fat Sacks” and “Dubs” featuring Backbone.
Afterwards, Big Boi mentioned that the album was looking towards a late October release date and also said an Andre 3000 album was coming soon. But the most important statement was this:
“After Three Stacks and Myself get done with these two projects, we hitting the dungeon for another Outkast album so get ready.”

Andre 3000 Plots Comeback, Solo Release On The Way

OutKast’s Andre 3000 has officially revealed plans to release his upcoming solo debut by as early as this year. According to Rolling Stone, the ATLien will be returning to store shelves with his first album without group member Big Boi. Rather than giving an exact date, Andre hinted at when he expects to release the currently untitled project...

“It should be dropping by the end of this year or early next year,” he told Rolling Stone. “I’ve pretty much been working by myself.”

Despite adding lyricism and popularizing singles from artists like John Legend, Fonzworth Bentley, Rich Boy, DJ Unk and UGK, Andre has decided to cut down his guest appearances for his own album.

“I’ve never really been that big on collaboration," he said. "I have a concept, and all the soundscapes are already in my head, so I just have to figure out how to get there. I’ve learned that I’m most powerful when I’m doing my art.”

Aside from hip-hop, Andre makes his return to the big screen in tomorrow’s debut film, Battle In Seattle. Co-starring Woody Harrelson, the film has the rapper-turned-actor playing an activist during 1999’s World Trade Organization summit.

EXCLUSIVE: Big Boi Speaks on New Outkast LP

Fans have been waiting patiently for years for a new Outkast album.

According to Big Boi, the long-delayed project has finally started to be work on.

In an exclusive interview with AllHipHop.com, Big Boi confirmed that one of the acclaimed duo’s latest efforts will be a part of his forthcoming solo album.

“I got the album coming out in a few months, Sir Lucious Leftfoot: Son of Chico Dusty,” Big Boi explained to AllHipHop.com. “The new single will be a song called ‘Looking for You’ featuring Andre 3000 and produced by Erik Sermon the Green-Eyed Bandit.”

Regarding their 7th studio album, Big Boi maintained that the plan is still to drop the LP following both their solo efforts.

Also, the Atlanta emcee remained tight-lipped on giving too much information on the still developing direction of the project.

“For all you Outkast lovers the album is coming. I’m tired of talking about it and know y’all are tired of hearing me talk about it. But its coming and the album is fire!” Big Boi exclaimed. “The Kast album is top secret but Organized Noise had done the first couple of beats off there. We got Dre working on his solo so we’re going to help him tighten that up. The Kast album is coming, then we got the Goodie Mob album coming, and then the Ceelo-Goodie album so it’s Dungeon Family for life!”

Outkast’s last album was the ambitious 2003 double album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, which spanned the hits

“The Way You Move” and “Hey Ya!” on its way to selling over 10 million copies.

Big Boi is currently performing as part of the nationwide Rock the Bells Tour.

At press time, there is no tentative release date or title for the new Outkast album.

Big Boi Talks Long-Awaited Solo Album, Upcoming Outkast Release

Next year looks to be an active one for fans of Outkast’s Big Boi.

The Atlanta-based rhymesmith is putting an end to the delay of his long-awaited solo album as word comes that he has finished and turned in the project.

According to Big Boi, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty will mark the beginning of a sting of musical offerings from him and fellow Outkast member Andre 3000.

"This is all in the next year or so, starting with my album coming at the top of the year, Dre 3000 right after me...and when the solo albums come out, depending on how the fans support them, then we're gonna give them the Outkast album," the rapper shared with Billboard.com.

The release of Sir Lucious comes more than a year and a half after material from the album was leaked to the public.

Among the songs previewed were the Andre 3000 and Raekwon-assisted “Royal Flush," "Sumthin's Gotta Give" featuring Mary J. Blige; "Dubbz" and "Fo Yo Sorrows" with George Clinton and Too $hort and "Shine Blockas" with Gucci Mane.

While leaked material could trigger feelings of stress among artists, Big Boi sees nothing but an upside in exposing listeners to what he has in store.

"It's almost like giving them a little sampler from the album and showing how diverse it is," the rapper/actor told Billboard. "Every song that I put out sounds totally different from the previous songs I put out. I slow-cooked this album and, man, I'm just so happy it's about to come out. I cannot wait to give it to the fans."

Acknowledging the “stops and starts” generated from the album, Big Boi revealed the challenge of releasing Sir Lucious stemmed from a strong desire for all aspects of the project to be in line with one another before unveiling it for fans.

In addition to Raekwon, Clinton, Gucci Mane, Too $hort and Blige, album collaborators include T.I., Lil Jon, Jamie Foxx and B.o.B.

"I've just been trying to make sure we've got the right avenues and the right brains and mindsets together to get the marketing and promoting behind it,” the entertainer stated. “When you work on something for, like, two years and 11 months, it's like your baby. You want to make sure that everybody has taken the project the way they're supposed to be taking it and the set-up is right."

Big Boi’s Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty is slated to hit stores in 2010.

As if Big Boi could hear my stereo bumping For Yo Sorrows non stop that must of made him want to shoot a video for it. Big Boi got together with George Clinton to shoot the video for the new hit single. Too Short was on the original leaked version of this song but we are unsure if he made it to the video shoot or not. Either way they better of left Short's verse on the song as it was a banger. News of the video shoot hit the net after Big Boi tweeted a picture of him and George on the set "Here's a better pic of Big and George "For Yo Sorrows" video shoot. Long Live The Funk!!!!".

For Yo Sorrows now becomes the fourth single from his heavily delayed and much anticipated solo debut Sir Lucious Left Foot: THe Son of Chico Dusty which is scheduled for a March 23rd release.
